Berry banana protein smoothie… where have you been all my life!
Hi there. I’m Matt. You probably haven’t seen me around much, I usually work behind the scenes here at vegan.io. Normally, you would find Julia posting recipes for you but this one was so good, I simply had to post it myself!
Healthy smoothies are all the hype at the moment, with many people having something to say about it. But smoothies never really go out of fashion. They have been around for years and will be around for many more to come. In fact, I have a fond memory of my mother making smoothies for us as kids, it was a treat on weekends. Thankfully, as I grew up I realised that they can actually be really healthy and still feel like I’m treating myself. Who knew?!
This recipe has been very well received by the team here at vegan.io. Every day, Julia whips up a batch of this smoothie and makes everyone drink it. As much as we love it, we have had to hide the blender from Julia (don’t tell her it was me!) until she finds a new recipe. But we are excited to share this recipe with you. Let’s take a look at what you’re going to need for this super simple, super easy recipe.
As I just said, it is super simple to make. I’m no wizard in the kitchen (far from it in fact) and even I can make this one. What you will need is 10 very common ingredients and 5 minutes… how easy is that?!
You will need to take all of your ingredients and… (wait for it)…. throw them in a blender and blend until smooth. See, anybody can make this one.
Although it might be a simplistic method to making this drink, the list of nutritional benefits is extensive. A range of berries provide us with a high dose of antioxidants, fibre, and vitamin C to name a few.
On top of this we add almond butter, chia seeds, and protein powder. Protein powder, as you may have guessed, gives us an important amount of protein required by our bodies, while the almond butter and chia seeds offer Omega-3, iron, calcium, and potassium.
The berry banana protein smoothie is perfect for any time of the day because it’s:
These smoothies are best consumed when they are made or soon after. However, if you need to store any, put your smoothie/s in airtight containers or jars and store them in the fridge for no longer than 24 hours.
And that just about sums it up. I hope you have enjoyed this berry banana protein smoothie as much as we have.

We didn't add it in the ingredient list, but we'd highly recommend adding the herb Ashwagandha to this smoothie to help combat todays stressful lifestyle. It's scientifically proven to reduce stress, anxiety, cortisol, and c-reactive protein. We add 5 teaspoons per person to ours.
