We love smoothies but when they're inspired by a classic dessert recipe we love them even more. How does a carrot cake smoothie sound? I know! AMAZING! This is seriously the perfect dessert-smoothie combo, it has all the flavour you could ask for (and more) from a smoothie as healthy as this one.
As you might know, I like smoothies that are easy to make. I think I make smoothies on a daily basis. So I have to make sure the recipes I come up with are quick and practical. This saves me loads of time and is great to be able to stuff a whole meal in a cup and just sip on it.
This carrot cake smoothie is a bit different from anything I've made before. If you scroll all the way down to the ingredient list you will see an ingredient I don't usually use for smoothies, zucchini.
Well, I guess carrots aren't super popular when you think of a smoothie either. But that's the beauty of this carrot cake smoothie. Throwing some veggies in the mix will load you up with vitamins and minerals with every sip you take.
There's a good amount of carbs, protein, and fibre in both of these veggies. And the benefits you'll be getting from them is incredible. Here are some, just to name a few:
Also, carrots and zucchinis don't have a particularly strong flavour. The taste of the carrots will overpower the zucchini, for sure. But to be honest, what will make this smoothie taste incredible are all the spices were are using.
That is what will give us the full carrot cake smoothie experience. Cardamon, cinnamon and vanilla are so delicious and super aromatic, and together they make the perfect blend. This mix will definitely have you thinking you are enjoying a piece of cake instead of a smoothie.
The bananas and dates will give our smoothie all the sweetness it needs. It's not overwhelming at all, it is actually just enough. But if you want your smoothie to come out slightly sweeter you can use really ripe bananas, this will do the trick.
The chia seeds and the protein powder are the last things on the list. The chia seeds add omega-3, antioxidants, and protein. A glass of the delicious carrot cake smoothie will add 18g of protein to your day's count.
I know, the idea of a carrot cake in a smoothie might sound like hard work. It really isn't. Like many of the other smoothies we have at vegan.io, you have to do just one thing. Blend it all together until you have a beautiful silky consistency.
I like to throw a few pecans on top of my carrot cake smoothies to make it even more similar to the actual dessert. And of course, make it looks super pretty!
